What has been your career path before joining KBS Maritime?
In total, I have worked in Portsmouth Naval Base for over 13 years. Prior to joining KBS I worked for BAE Systems as a Project Controller, working closely with the Project Managers, tracking and managing key milestones. Just before moving over to KBS I spent a few months helping the Supply Chain team in their busy period. I really enjoyed this department and soon applied for the role where I was lucky enough to be accepted as a Supply Chain Advisor.
What are some of the things you do in your role now?
My current role involves daily engagement with internal and external suppliers, carrying out due diligence to ensure all policies and procedures are in place to onboard them as a KBS supplier. I then track and record this on our Contracts Register and continuously update our records. Once they are fully onboarded I can then raise purchase orders for any works/ supply of goods through our online SAP System.
Over the next coming months, I will be getting more involved with the tendering process, advertising upcoming opportunities and working closely with Project Managers to ensure we have the best resources in place for the job!
What do you enjoy most about working at KBS Maritime?
I love the diversity of work, there is always so much going on here. Being in Supply Chain I get to see the project at the very beginning of its life then get to watch it evolve, whether that be something small like road markings or a huge project like refurbishing a whole building. I feel proud to have played a part in that happening
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I’ve always had a huge fascination with wildlife, especially sea life so I wanted to be a marine biologist. I grew up watching David Attenborough nearly every day, he was my hero and still is to this day! I now work by the water so close enough I suppose!
What are the top 3 things on your ‘bucket list’?
- Cage diving with great white sharks
- River Nile cruise to see all of the ancient Egyptian ruins and the Great Egyptian Museum in Giza
- Visit Japan when the blossoms are in bloom
