Jasmine Woodford, a dedicated Port Operative, joined KBS one year ago and has continued to build her skills, confidence and experience since joining KBS. Through a strong commitment to learning, teamwork and safety, she has grown into a valued member of the team, playing an important role in supporting day-to-day activities.
Jasmine’s journey with KBS began after being introduced to the business by her brother, Sam Woodford, who works as an ALS Managing AP. After seeing first-hand the opportunities available and hearing about his positive experiences, she was inspired to apply herself.
Since joining KBS, Jasmine has embraced every opportunity to develop. What started as a chance to learn new skills has evolved into a rewarding career pathway, allowing her to take on greater responsibility and continue expanding her capabilities. During her time with the company, she has gained valuable experience while developing both personally and professionally.
One of the aspects Jasmine enjoys most about her role is the variety it offers. No two days are the same, with work ranging from operating the Manitou and forklifts to carrying out slinging activities and supporting the safe movement of cargo. The constantly changing nature of operations means every day presents new challenges and opportunities to learn. Her role requires adaptability, with changing cargo requirements, weather conditions and schedules all influencing the day’s work. As a result, continuous learning and the ability to respond to different situations are essential parts of the job.
A typical day begins with a toolbox talk, where the team reviews the day’s tasks and allocates responsibilities. Whether operating machinery, assisting with lifting operations or supporting colleagues on the ground, teamwork is central to ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
Throughout her time at KBS, Jasmine has seen significant growth in her own confidence and abilities. She credits the experience she has gained on the job with helping her develop strong communication and problem-solving skills, alongside a greater sense of responsibility within the team. Jasmine attributes her success to the support and encouragement of her managers and colleagues. She credits them for helping her grow in confidence, sharing their knowledge and encouraging her to take on new challenges.
Outside of work, Jasmine enjoys staying active and has recently taken up going to the gym. She also values spending time with family and friends and enjoys gaming in her spare time.
Looking ahead, Jasmine has ambitions both personally and professionally. Her bucket list includes converting a van into a campervan and travelling around the UK before eventually exploring Europe. Alongside these travel plans, she is keen to continue progressing her career and building on the experience she has gained at KBS.
Interestingly, while Jasmine was never certain about a specific profession growing up, she always knew she wanted a hands-on career that would keep her active. Today, it’s clear that Jasmine has found exactly that, while continuing to develop new skills, take on new responsibilities and make a valuable contribution to the KBS team every day.
As Jasmine continues her journey with KBS, her willingness to learn, positive attitude and commitment to safe operations highlight the valuable contribution she makes to the team.
